There is good news for passengers coming to Amritsar on Scoot Airlines direct flight from Singapore. They will no longer have to get pre-departure Covid test negative report and submit Air Suvidha declaration form online to board the flights.

FlyAmritsar Initiative Global Convener Sameep Singh Gumtala shared the information that Ministry of Health & Family welfare has issued new guidelines removing the 6 countries (Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and China) for which this testing was again made mandatory after Dec 24 of last year. This decision has been taken by India due to improvement in the Covid situation in these six countries.

These new guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will come into force on February 13 from 11 am onwards. Passengers arriving in India from these countries before this time will have to get tested as per the existing rules. As per these instructions of the Ministry, randomly 2 per cent of the international passengers coming from any country will continue to be tested after arrival at the Indian airports.

According to Gumtala, Scoot operates 5-weekly direct flights between Singapore – Amritsar using its 335-seater Boeing Dreamliner aircraft for these flights.

A large number of Punjabis come to Amritsar from Australia, New Zealand and other countries via Singapore on these flights, this is a great relief for them too. This will save them from the hassle and expense of getting the test done. The Government of India had implemented some new guidelines on December 24, out of which the rules for conducting tests and filling forms have now been withdrawn.
