Amritsar/Vancouver (Team FlyAmritsar):- The Canadian Government on Friday i.e. June 21st 2021, announced the extension of current suspension on all scheduled and charter flights arriving into Canada from India until July 21st 2021 to help control the spread of new variants of the novel coronavirus.

The Canadian government had first announced on April 22nd 2021, a 30 day ban on all scheduled and charter flights arriving into the country from India & Pakistan, as the COVID-19 cases in India & Pakistan were on the rise. This ban was later than future extended until 21st June 2021.

The Canadian Minister of Transport, Hon’ble Omar Alghabra announced via Twitter, “Our government announced that it’s renewing the flight ban between Canada and India for 30 days, to July 21st, 2021. Based on the public health data, we will not be renewing the flight ban between Canada and Pakistan.”

Before this flight ban was imposed, both #Air India and #Air Canada were operating direct flights between Delhi and Toronto/Vancouver.

Notably, the Canadian flag carrier, Air Canada recently had announced that it will be extending its suspension of flights between India and Canada until July 28th 2021, before this latest official announcement.

Due to this extension, Air India is also not going to be able to operate its direct flights from Delhi to Toronto & Vancouver.

According to the restrictions, the ban applies to direct flights from India. Passengers can still fly to Canada from India, but will need to arrive in Canada via a third country. These passengers will need to produce a negative result on a COVID-19 test taken at their last point of departure before being allowed to enter Canada.
