The great response by the Punjabi community both in Punjab, India and Italy for direct flights between Amritsar and Italy has let the national carrier of India, Air India to continue its non-stop flights between Amritsar and Rome, Italy.
Air India since February 1st 2021, has been operating 1x weekly direct Delhi-Amritsar-Rome flights with its state-of-the-art Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
According to the schedule released by Air India, the airline will operate 1x weekly direct Delhi-Amritsar-Rome and vice-versa flight, under its Vande Bharat Mission (VBM) till October 28th 2021.
The Delhi-Amritsar-Rome flight will depart every Wednesday till October 27th 2021. While from Rome the flight will depart every Thursday till October 28th 2021.
With the addition of Rome, Air India now directly connects Amritsar with over 3 destinations in Europe, namely, London & Birmingham in UK and Rome in Italy. However due to some restrictions imposed in India, direct flights between Amritsar and UK are currently suspended.
In addition to Air India, the Indian carrier, SpiceJet has been operating a number of special charter flights between Amritsar and Milan & Rome in Italy, since late last year. The airline is expected to operate more such flights to Italy in the upcoming days with its leased A330neo aircraft.
