The Indian full service carrier, Vistara today completed its 4 years serving Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar on 1st March 2021.

Vistara, a joint venture between Tata’s and Singapore Airlines started flying to holy city, Amritsar on 1st March 2017 from Delhi. The airline became the 3rd Indian FSC to add Amritsar to its route map in 2017 after the national carrier, Air India and currently grounded, Jet Airways.

Vistara’s first flight to Amritsar (UK 957) with 158-seating capacity, including eight business class, 24 premium economy and rest 126 in economy class seats, took off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 1320 hours and landed at Amritsar at its scheduled arrival time of 1435 hours.

A week later on 8 March 2017, the airline also started direct flights from holy city to Mumbai. In a tweet, the airline shared some highlights from the maiden flight including the crew members under the command of Captain Mandesh who operated the inaugural flight.

Vistara currently connects Amritsar with only the national capital, Delhi, with two daily flights using its Airbus A320neo aircraft. As the domestic and international market recovers, the airline may look into exploring some highly potential unserved domestic as well as international routes from the airport in near future.
