Amritsar now connected with more Destinations in UAE than ever

While Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport Amritsar’s potential for flights to the UK, Canada and Italy is undoubtedly high, Amritsar is now showing its high potential for traffic to United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The holy city is now directly connected with 4 major cities of the UAE, namely Dubai, Sharjah, Ras-Al-Khaimah and Abu Dhabi. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, it was connected only with Dubai and Sharjah.

According to the summer schedule released by the airlines on their websites, the national carrier, Air India and the low cost carriers IndiGo, SpiceJet and Air India Express have scheduled to operate direct flights between Amritsar and UAE from this summer season i.e. April 2021.

The national carrier, Air India has scheduled biweekly direct flights between Amritsar and Dubai on its 787-8 Dreamliner, 1x weekly direct flights between Amritsar and Abu Dhabi and also 1x weekly direct flight between Amritsar and Doha.

The low cost carrier, Air India Express has scheduled to operate daily flights between Amritsar and Dubai and 1x weekly direct flight between Amritsar and Abu Dhabi.

While, IndiGo has scheduled 6x weekly direct flights between Amritsar and Sharjah, 3x weekly flights between Amritsar and Dubai and 1x weekly flight between Amritsar and Abu Dhabi.

The low cost carrier, SpiceJet has also scheduled to operate 5x-weekly direct flights between Amritsar and Ras-Al-Khaimah using its Boeing 737 aircraft till end of April 2021. From May 2021 onwards, the airline on its website is taking booking for flights from Amritsar to Dubai.

Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar will now have 26 weekly departures to UAE from April 2021. Pre-pandemic Amritsar airport in total had 21 weekly departures to both Dubai and Sharjah in UAE, by Air India Express, SpiceJet and IndiGo.

While currently due to restrictions in Bilateral Air Service Agreement between India and UAE, no UAE carrier can operate scheduled flights to/from Amritsar.

There is a large number of Punjabi’s who work in the middle east, especially in United Arab Emirates. The addition of direct Air India flights to Dubai will now give people more options to travel with a Full Service Carrier or Low Cost Carriers.

These new flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi by both Air India and IndiGo will also give a boost to the tourism industry in both the cities and also help in increase of economy of Amritsar.
