Recently Canadian MPs from Conservative party Caucus wrote to India’s flagship airline Air India for initiating direct flights from Amritsar to Canada, and now a motion was passed by Brampton Civic Council on Wednesday (Dec. 14) directing City staff to bring Brampton residents’ concerns and requests for direct and regular flights between Pearson Airport and the state of Punjab to the federal government and airline stakeholders. The campaign for direct flights from Canada to Amritsar is gaining momentum and becoming household name among Punjabi diaspora across North America said “Anantdeep Singh Convenor North America for FlyAmritsar Initiative”.

Advocacy group pushes for Direct flights between Amritsar & Canada
Mohit Dhanju, spokesperson for the FlyAmristar Initiative, says most of the six cities in the new agreement are located in central and southern India, which means travelers will need to wait about seven hours in Delhi to take a connecting flight to Amritsar or drive approximately eight to 10 hours to northern India.
