Fly Amritsar

Campaign

Fighting on All Fronts

From parking improvements to global cargo advocacy

We’re not just fighting for more flights—we’re demanding a complete transformation of the passenger experience and the economic infrastructure that connects Punjab to the world. Here are the battles we’re actively waging:

Ground Connectivity
Bus Services to All Punjab Cities
Target: Punjab State Government

The Issue:

Passengers from Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and other Punjab cities struggle to reach the airport. Unlike Delhi Airport’s extensive bus network, Amritsar has no reliable state-run connectivity.

Our Demands:

  • Dedicated bus services from Amritsar Airport to major Punjab cities (Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda)
  • Launch a reliable “City Shuttle” connecting the airport to Golden Temple and major tourist sites
  • Modern AC coaches with luggage space and real-time tracking
Infrastructure & Passenger Experience
Terminal Expansion & Smart Parking
Target: AAI & Contractors

The Issue:

The terminal is congested during peak hours. Parking is outdated, creating long queues and frustration due to contractor mismanagement and lack of modern payment systems.

Our Demands:

  • Terminal Expansion: Immediate expansion to handle growing passenger traffic and reduce congestion
  • FASTag Implementation: Modern automated parking with FASTag lanes to eliminate queues and contractor issues
  • Privatization: Advocate for privatization to bring world-class efficiency and international standards
Global Connectivity & Cargo
Canada Connectivity & Cargo Export
Target: International Airlines & State Government

The Issue:

Despite massive demand, Canada connectivity remains routed through Delhi. Meanwhile, Punjab’s cargo potential—fresh produce, textiles, pharmaceuticals—remains severely underutilized.

Our Demands:

  • One-Stop Canada via Hubs: Push Qatar Airways and other carriers for seamless connections to Toronto/Vancouver via Doha, bypassing Delhi
  • Cargo Infrastructure: Work with stakeholders to develop dedicated cargo facilities for fresh produce and textile exports
  • Direct International Routes: Continue advocacy for direct flights to key destinations as geopolitical conditions improve

The Historic Canada Campaign

Status: Milestone Achieved (Mobilization Phase Complete)

The Story: Our historic petition to the Canadian Parliament gathered 20,000+signatures creating a massive wave of awareness across two countries. We successfully mobilized Canadian MPs and media, proving beyond doubt that the demand for direct connectivity between Punjab and Canada is real, urgent, and massive.

This campaign put Amritsar Airport on the map in Ottawa and forced airlines to take notice. We generated extensive media coverage, secured meetings with airline executives, and created a data-driven case that continues to support our ongoing negotiations.

What Changed: While the geopolitical landscape has shifted in ways beyond our control, the data and momentum from this campaign are far from wasted. The evidence we gathered continues to support our current advocacy for:

  • Convenient one-stop connections to Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary via hubs like Doha (Qatar Airways)
  • Positioning Amritsar as a strategic alternative to overcrowded Delhi routes
  • Building relationships with airlines that can deliver immediate relief while we work toward direct flights

The petition may be closed, but the fight continues. Every signature was a vote of confidence that fuels our ongoing battles on all fronts—from bus services to cargo to international connectivity.
