FlyAmritsar Initiative Impact: “Go First” to Launch Six New Flights from Amritsar – AVM & FAI Welcomes Move

FlyAmritsar Initiative that connects with different airlines of the World and governments to encourage them to start direct flights to Amritsar along with Amritsar Vikas Manch, a non-government organization working for the overall development of holy city of Amritsar has welcomed the launch of six daily direct flights from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport Amritsar by India’s leading ultra-low-cost carrier Go First, earlier known as Go Air. The airline will commence their operations from 11 November 2021 with 3 daily direct flights between Amritsar-Delhi, 2 daily flights between Amritsar – Mumbai and one daily flight to Srinagar.

In a press release, Yogesh Kamra, Convener India for the FlyAmritsar Initiative and Manmohan Singh Brar, Patron Amritsar Vikas Manch thanked the airline and said that the introduction of these Go First flights from Amritsar adds another success to our efforts for the start of more direct flights from holy city, as Go First is now set to become the 6th Indian carrier to operate out of Amritsar Airport. In early January 2021, we approached the airline CEO and network team with detailed statistics, requesting them to commence domestic and international flight operations from Amritsar.

A team of Go Air executives later on 31 January 2021, visited the Airport and also paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib. AVM Patron Manmohan Singh Brar, Patron Principal Kulwant Singh Ankhi, President Hardip Singh, Secretary & Member Airport Advisory Committee Yogesh Kamra welcomed Go First officials at the Information office of Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar and requested the airline to add Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport Amritsar to their route map by starting domestic & international flights.

AVM President Hardip Singh appealed to Punjab Government to immediately resume bus service started under BRTS from Airport to Darbar Sahib without any further delay and demanded to immediately start bus service from other cities in Punjab to the Airport. In order to make these direct flights popular, the Punjab Tourism Department should play an active role and make sincere effort to attract international tourists to Punjab through special discounts, incentive schemes, and promotional activities.

FlyAmritsar Initiative Letter to “Go First”

Yogesh Kamra informed that these daily direct non-stop flights from Go First will also provide seamless one-stop transfer connections to other major destinations in India like Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Goa, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Bagdogra (Siliguri), Guwahati, Kochi, Nagpur, Aizwal via their connecting hubs of Delhi and Mumbai.
